Summary

Associate Electrical Design Engineer | Cambridge | Up to £85,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus

An established and growing engineering consultancy is looking to appoint an Associate Electrical Design Engineer to join its Cambridge office.

This is a leadership role for someone who enjoys being involved in both the technical and commercial side of projects. You'll lead electrical design delivery across a varied portfolio, manage key client relationships, mentor engineers and play an active role in the growth of the Building Services team.

The business has a strong presence across the UK and works on a broad range of projects including commercial offices, education, healthcare, residential, life sciences and public sector developments.

The Role

You will take responsibility for leading electrical building services projects from initial concept through to completion, ensuring technical quality, programme delivery and client satisfaction throughout.

Responsibilities include:

- Leading electrical design on complex building services projects.

- Acting as the main client contact and developing long-term relationships.

- Attending and leading design meetings, workshops and project reviews.

- Providing technical guidance and quality assurance across project teams.

- Managing resources, project delivery and financial performance.

- Supporting fee proposals, bids and business development activities.

- Working closely with multidisciplinary design teams.

- Mentoring and developing graduate, intermediate and senior engineers.

- Supporting chartership development and professional growth within the team.

- Assisting with recruitment and the continued expansion of the Cambridge office.

About You

We're interested in speaking with experienced electrical building services engineers who are comfortable leading projects and engaging directly with clients.

You should have:

- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.

- Significant consultancy experience delivering electrical building services designs.

- A strong understanding of current Building Regulations and British Standards.

- Experience managing client relationships and project teams.

- Previous mentoring or line management experience.

- Commercial awareness and an understanding of project financials.

- Chartered Engineer status, or a clear pathway towards Chartership.

What's on Offer?

- Salary up to £85,000.

- Car allowance.

- Annual performance bonus.

- Hybrid and flexible working.

- Private medical cover.

- Enhanced pension scheme.

- Life assurance and income protection.

- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.

- Option to buy or sell additional leave.

- Professional membership fees paid.

- Chartership and structured career development support.

- Volunteer days and wellbeing initiatives.

Why Apply?

This position offers the opportunity to move into a visible leadership role within a highly respected consultancy. You'll work on a diverse range of projects, have genuine influence over team development and client relationships, and benefit from a clear route towards Associate Director level and beyond.

For engineers looking to step away from being purely project-focused and into a role where they can influence people, projects and business growth, this represents an excellent long-term opportunity.
