The successful candidate will have the opportunity to rotate between the Stroke, and Neurorehabilitation pathways. We are also hoping to extend these rotations onto the acute stroke unit in the near future.

The variety of Stroke and Neuro patients that we come across on a daily basis will allow you to extend your clinical knowledge and clinical reasoning in this field of practice.

Working within the service requires you to demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and forward thinking. The ability to work within a fast paced and pressured environment is essential, along with having excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate must have a passion for learning and educating others, while demonstrating high levels of drive to improve their own skills and knowledge. Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is ideally situated just a forty five minute drive from Manchester. The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients.

As one of the United Kingdom’s largest coastal resort, Blackpool has plenty to offer its residents – it’s not just a good place to work; it’s a great place to live. In addition to its bustling centre and historic seafront, the town is world famous for its many attractions, including the famous Blackpool Tower. Blackpool also offers a number of scenic cycling routes round our local parks and across the surrounding countryside, as well as boasting panoramic views of the coast on its picturesque Promenade. Further afield, Blackpool also benefits from less than three-hour connections via rail to Edinburgh in the north and London in the south.

We recommend that all individuals employed in patient facing roles, or those located on a ward or department where patients receive a service should be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

As a static Band 6  Physiotherapist you will be responsible for the assessment, treatment planning and rehabilitation of patients who have been diagnosed with a neurological condition or have survived a stroke.

You will be responsible for supporting the discharge planning process of such patients, via liaison with the multi-disciplinary team in the acute setting to ensure discharges are timely and effective for patients.

You will be provided with the opportunity to develop your leadership skills and also to engage in, or lead, any service development projects.

Candidates should be willing to support other team members in their development, including junior Physiotherapists, therapy assistants and students. This will include active participation in clinical supervision sessions and an in-service training rota.

This full-time post (37.5 hours per week) may require you to work weekends on a rota basis in the future. However, this post has no on-call commitment.

We will offer the following support:

·         Professional support will be provided by the Clinical Lead Therapist as well as the opportunity to engage in regular peer-supervision with other team members.
