Summary
Firth Steels, an established family-run steel manufacturer based in Brighouse, is looking for an experienced Side Loader Operator to join its team.
The role involves operating a side loader forklift to safely move, load and unload steel materials, including long and oversized loads. Duties also include equipment inspections, maintaining accurate records and assisting with general yard and warehouse operations.
Applicants should have relevant side loader qualifications (C1 or C2), a minimum of 1–2 years' experience operating forklifts or similar heavy equipment, and a strong understanding of safe material handling procedures.
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with optional Saturday overtime.
Salary: Dependent on skills and experience.

Essential requirements
- Side loader forklift operation (C1 or C2 qualification) - Minimum 1–2 years' forklift or heavy equipment operating experience - Safe loading and unloading of materials - Handling long, heavy and oversized loads - Good understanding of load balancing and weight distribution - Knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures - Forklift safety checks and equipment inspections - Good spatial awareness and attention to detail - Warehouse and yard operations experience - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Good communication and organisational skills - Physically fit and capable of manual handling Desirable: Counterbalance forklift qualification (B1 or B2) and basic inventory management experience.
