Summary

ABOUT TCS

Thermoelectric Conversion Systems Ltd (TCS) is a Scottish engineering company developing practical thermoelectric technologies for heating and energy recovery. Our Hummingbird™ solid-state heat pump is already being deployed in real properties, and feedback from those systems directly informs our engineering and product development.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a practical Electronics Engineer whose first strength is diagnosing, testing and improving real electronic and electromechanical systems. The main focus is Hummingbird product reliability, bench testing and deployment support, with opportunities to contribute to wider TCS development projects. Most work is at our Clydebank facility, with occasional site visits to investigate faults or support commissioning alongside the appropriate installation personnel.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Diagnose and resolve faults in power supplies, control hardware, sensors, protection devices, wiring and electronic subsystems.

• Use schematics, test instruments and measured data to isolate root causes, document findings and verify corrective actions.

• Develop repeatable bench-test and fault-finding procedures for assemblies and integrated systems.

• Support electronic assembly, wiring checks, control-panel integration and electrical/electronic testing of prototype and production hardware.

• Investigate intermittent issues and field failures; propose practical design, component or process changes to improve robustness.

• Work with mechanical and product-development engineers on sensors, controls, thermal interfaces, test rigs and system performance.

• Help commissioning teams with occasional field investigations, safely gathering diagnostic evidence and feeding lessons back into the product.

• Maintain clear schematics, test records, fault reports and technical documentation; contribute to future electronics design where skills permit.

WORKING ARRANGEMENTS & APPLICATION

Based at TCS in Clydebank, this is a predominantly on-site engineering role. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with colleagues across mechanical, electrical, electronics and product-development activities.

Right to work: Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK without employer visa sponsorship (for example, through British or Irish citizenship, settled or pre-settled status, or indefinite leave to remain). TCS cannot provide visa sponsorship for this role.

To apply: Send your CV and a short note describing relevant projects and practical engineering experience via the advertised application route.

Equal opportunity: TCS welcomes applications from people with different educational and professional routes into engineering. Selection will focus on relevant skills, experience and the ability to perform the role.
