Summary
Employer Account Executive - IPS
Build employer relationships. Open doors to employment.
You'll develop relationships with employers across Essex, creating paid employment opportunities for people supported through our Individual Placement and Support (IPS) service.
This is a proactive employer engagement role. You'll approach new businesses, develop existing accounts, identify advertised and unadvertised vacancies and help employers build more inclusive workplaces. You'll also deliver practical employer training and guidance.
Your success will be measured by the quality of employer relationships, relevant opportunities created and contribution to sustainable employment outcomes - not simply the number of conversations you have.
Before you apply: the essentials
To be considered, your CV and application must clearly demonstrate:
- Experience developing employer, business or client relationships, including proactively approaching new contacts and creating opportunities.
- Evidence of turning conversations and relationships into measurable results, such as vacancies, placements, new accounts or other agreed outcomes.
- Experience explaining information clearly, influencing decisions and providing practical advice or guidance to external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, maintain productive relationships and follow through on commitments.
- Evidence of commitment, reliability and consistently delivering high standards of work.
- Evidence of delivering outcomes, targets, tasks, projects or agreed objectives.
- Confident working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to learn and adapt to other software and digital systems.
- Ability to present your recent employment history clearly, including explaining gaps or short-term roles during the previous five years.
Useful, but not essential
- Experience in employability, recruitment, employer engagement or IPS services.
- Knowledge of inclusive recruitment, disability, neurodiversity or workplace adjustments.
- Experience delivering employer workshops, briefings or training.
The real job
You'll build and manage a portfolio of employers, understand their recruitment needs and develop relationships that create genuine employment opportunities.
Working closely with IPS Employment Specialists, you'll focus on the jobs participants actually want, rather than simply collecting vacancies.
You'll approach businesses even when they are not advertising, explore flexible working and job design, and help employers consider reasonable adjustments.
You'll also deliver training and practical guidance on inclusive recruitment, workplace policies, disability, neurodiversity and employee retention, recognising when specialist advice is needed.
Accurate employer records, vacancy information, follow-up activity and performance reporting are essential parts of the job.
What success looks like
Employers trust you, engage repeatedly and offer relevant opportunities.
Employment Specialists receive useful employer intelligence and introductions that help participants move towards sustainable work.
Your employer training leads to practical improvements, your pipeline is actively managed and your records clearly demonstrate results.
The working reality
This role involves proactive business development, employer meetings, relationship management and accountability for agreed performance expectations.
Not every employer conversation will produce an opportunity. You'll need to handle rejection, maintain momentum and balance new business development with supporting existing employers.
What you get
- 25 days' annual leave, increasing with service.
- Vitality health and wellbeing support, including GP services, mental health support and physiotherapy.
- 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, including up to six counselling sessions a year and legal, financial and debt guidance.
- Workplace pension, with salary sacrifice available subject to eligibility and scheme rules.
- Share buy scheme.
- Up to £360 a year through IncentFit for eligible activities.
- Wellbeing, retail, fitness, travel and mobile discounts, including 20% off eligible EE mobile plans.
