Have you recently finished a Psychology degree and want hands-on experience with young people with special educational needs? Luma Education Recruitment is recruiting a Graduate SEN Outreach Support Worker for an education provider based in Newton Abbot, South Devon. You'll work with children and young people with SEN who aren't in full-time school, in 1:1 and small-group sessions. Sessions run at school sites and local libraries, and occasionally in pupils' homes, so you'll need to drive. The role is a strong first step towards educational or clinical psychology, SEN teaching or therapy training.
The Provider
An established South Devon education provider that delivers outreach and alternative learning for pupils with SEN. Each young person's sessions are planned around their own needs and EHC plan outcomes, and staff get training and regular supervision.
What You'll Be Doing
- Running planned 1:1 and small-group sessions in English, maths and life skills
- Helping pupils with autism, ADHD, anxiety and other needs settle into learning again
- Driving between school sites, libraries and sometimes pupils' homes
- Keeping brief session notes and tracking each pupil's progress
- Keeping in touch with tutors, parents and school staff
What You'll Need
- A degree in Psychology or a closely related subject (recent graduates welcome)
- Some experience with children or young people, e.g. tutoring, volunteering, mentoring or care work
- A full UK driving licence and your own car
We're looking for someone patient, dependable and interested in how young people learn, who's happy working independently between sessions.
