Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: Temporary, ongoing

Do you hold QTS and have experience teaching primary pupils with special educational needs? Luma Education Recruitment is recruiting a full-time SEN Primary Class Teacher for an independent specialist school in the Totnes area of South Devon. Classes are very small. Every pupil has an EHC plan, so your teaching is built around individual targets, not a one-size-fits-all scheme. The post is ongoing and starts ASAP. Parking is free, and there are good public transport links.
The Setting
The school is a small independent special school for children and young people aged 5 to 18. It's in a quiet rural spot close to Totnes, and it has an experienced staff team and a small number of pupils.
What You'll Be Doing
- Teaching a small primary class, with personalised learning for each child
- Directing the classroom support staff day to day
- Building structured routines, visual supports and sensory regulation into the school day
- Recording progress against EHC plan outcomes and writing reports for annual reviews
- Liaising with parents, carers and visiting therapists
What You'll Need
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Primary teaching experience
- Experience with pupils with SEN, ideally in a specialist school
- The ability to adapt lessons for pupils working well below age-related expectations
We're looking for a calm, patient and well-organised teacher who enjoys getting to know each pupil.
