Summary
A session for a SGP is 4 hours and 10 minutes in duration and will include the following components: Approximately 3.5 hours of patient contact per session which may include face to face appointments, home visits and telephone appointments. All surgeries operate a 10 minute appointment system for face to face routine consultations and 5 minute appointments for telephone contact and urgent appointments. 40 minutes per session is dedicated to administration to include correspondence, blood results, repeat prescriptions, reports and QoF, in accordance with the needs of the patient. This list is not intended to be exhaustive but is representative of usual administration. SGP's in MMP are expected to be on call on a local surgery rota basis. When undertaking on call duties, the surgery management team will make adjustments to the usual duties on that day accordingly. The same will apply when undertaking telephone triage during sessions. Surgery start and finish times are to be locally agreed with SGP's and surgery management. This job plan may require a review in accordance with changes to the needs of the organisation or its patients from time to time.
