Summary

Portsmouth packs a lot of people and dogs onto one island, and many of those dogs live in flats and terraces. When their owners leave for a few days, the best place for the dog is usually home. That is why we want three self-employed pet sitters: one for Southsea, one for the north of the island and one for Cosham and the mainland side.

This is not a walking job. You go into the owner's home, follow their routine for food and medication, take the dog out, spend time with it and send a daily update. A booking may be a short visit, a few nights, or the whole of a holiday.

Terms for your own business: WoofWalk is only a booking app and not an employer. We pay no wage and cannot promise work. You set your price per visit and per night, owners book and pay in the app, and your earnings are paid out to your bank. You deal with tax, National Insurance and insurance yourself. Our research found no Portsmouth sitting price, so none is given.

Boarding dogs in your own home is a different service, and it needs a licence from the council before you take a booking. The app lists it separately. At the owner's home you can sit without one.

You pay nothing to join, and nothing in commission for 14 days. Then it is 15% of each booking. After five of your own clients have joined through you it becomes 10% for life, and anyone you bring in yourself pays 10% from day one.

Over 18 only. Apply on Find a Job, naming the part of the island you can reach and whether you can do overnights.
