Summary

Community Pharmacist | Shenley, Hertfordshire| Full Time, Permanent | £50,000 - £55,000 per annum

Would you enjoy making a real difference in a close-knit community, where patients know their pharmacy team by name?

Our client is an established community pharmacy serving a loyal local patient base in a friendly village setting. With a GP practice nearby and a supportive, experienced team, the pharmacy provides a welcoming environment where patient care and good relationships matter.

The pharmacy is developing its range of clinical services and is looking for a patient-focused pharmacist who can contribute to that growth while helping to lead the day-to-day running of the pharmacy.

The Role

We’re looking for a Community Pharmacist to take a visible, active role in the pharmacy: supporting patients, overseeing dispensing and clinical checking, delivering services and helping the wider team work effectively.

Full-time, permanent work is preferred. The client is also open to discussing part-time arrangements with the right person. There may be flexibility to work Monday to Friday or to include Saturday rota cover, with the working pattern agreed with the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee dispensing, clinical checking and the safe, efficient running of the pharmacy.

• Provide clear, approachable advice and support to patients.

• Deliver NHS and private pharmacy services under the relevant PGDs.

• Help develop and promote the pharmacy’s clinical services.

• Support and guide the wider pharmacy team, leading by example.

• Build trusted relationships with patients and the local community.

• Work constructively with the nearby GP practice and other local healthcare professionals.

What We’re Looking For

• Active GPhC registration in good standing.

• Community pharmacy experience is strongly preferred.

• Sound dispensing and clinical checking knowledge.

• Confidence managing a busy workload and making appropriate clinical decisions.

• A warm, professional manner and strong patient communication skills.

• A proactive approach to pharmacy services and patient care.

• The confidence to support colleagues and help lead the pharmacy team.

• A reliable, long-term approach and an interest in becoming part of the local community.

Experience with services such as Pharmacy First, blood pressure checks and ABPM, NMS, contraception, vaccinations, travel services and weight management would be valuable. You don’t need to have delivered every service already: training can be discussed for someone who has a strong foundation and is keen to develop.

Newer pharmacists with the right attitude and patient-facing skills are encouraged to apply. An exceptional hospital pharmacist looking to move into community pharmacy may also be considered.

Working Hours

The usual opening hours are:

• Monday to Friday, 8:30 am–6:30 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

• Saturday, 9:00 am–5:00 pm, where Saturday rota cover is agreed.

The preferred pattern is five weekdays. An alternative of four weekdays plus Saturday rota cover may also be considered, with a weekday off. Saturday frequency and part-time options can be discussed.

What’s In It For You

• Full-time, permanent opportunity preferred, with part-time arrangements considered.

• Salary to be agreed based on experience between £50,000 - £55,000 for full time (please note self-employed applicants will be considered; please enquire for self-employed rates)

• Four weeks’ annual leave plus bank holidays, pro rata for part-time hours.

• Pension auto-enrolment.

• A discretionary bonus may be available, subject to performance and contribution.

• A well-supported pharmacy team, including technicians and an ACT.

• Free, ample on-site parking.

• A close working relationship with the nearby GP practice.

• Access to service and PGD training through the pharmacy’s training platform.

• The opportunity to help grow clinical services and take on greater responsibility.

Additional Information

The successful candidate will need to complete an appropriate DBS check. References and confirmation of GPhC registration will also be required.
