Summary
Director of Income & Contracting – Band 9
University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust
Royal Derby Hospital, with hybrid working
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior finance leader to join UHDB as Director of Income & Contracting. You will directly contribute to delivering the best possible outcomes for patients by securing contract and payment arrangements that appropriately fund our services and support improvements in care.
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Finance Officer, you will be the Trust’s most senior recognised income and pricing expert. You will lead negotiations across a substantial commissioner portfolio, including our £800m main contract, £260m second-largest contract and other material contracts, working across multiple ICBs and commissioning arrangements.
You will lead an integrated team covering income analytics and reporting, and negotiation and commissioning development. Your responsibilities will include setting the Trust’s income budget, leading annual negotiations and continuous planning, and ensuring effective monthly reporting and contract monitoring.
A key priority will be developing new payment arrangements and embedding pricing and income analytics to improve decisions, reduce unwarranted variation, increase productivity and support care closer to home. Working alongside clinical and operational colleagues, you will align contracts with deliverable service and recovery plans. You will also regularly deputise for the Deputy CFO.
We are looking for a CCAB-qualified accountant with substantial senior NHS finance and contracting experience, expert knowledge of payment mechanisms and a strong record of leading complex negotiations. You will combine sound judgement and analytical ability with the confidence to influence senior colleagues, build constructive commissioner relationships and develop your team.
