Summary

Maintenance Officer

Location: Canning Town, East London

£14.00 - £15.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm (1 hour unpaid lunch break)

We are recruiting for a

Maintenance Officer to support the upkeep and safety of supported housing properties in Canning Town.

This is a varied role involving planned maintenance, health & safety checks, reactive repairs, cleaning, and general caretaking duties. The successful candidate will help ensure properties remain safe, compliant, and well maintained for residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned maintenance and compliance checks

Respond to maintenance issues and complete minor repairs

Undertake basic decorating, plumbing, and building repairs

Complete room health & safety inspections

Maintain accurate records and documentation

Monitor contractors and report hazards

Ensure communal areas remain safe, clean, and well maintained

Requirements

Previous experience in maintenance, caretaking, facilities, or handyman work

Good understanding of health & safety procedures

Confident using hand and power tools

Good communication and IT skills

Able to work independently and manage workloads effectively

Reliable, professional, and organised

Desirable

Health & Safety or trade-related qualification

Experience within social housing, supported housing, or homelessness services

Full UK Driving Licence
