Summary

Job Advert

The Account Executive Team Leader runs one of two pods within the region's internal account management function: day-to-day supervision of a group of Internal Account Executives whose job is to turn every existing-customer call into a retention and growth outcome.

This is a frontline sales leadership role. The Team Leader listens to calls, coaches technique, and holds the pod to its sales conversation and conversion targets as closely as its service standards.

The Team Leader also directly line-manages the Peak Fixed Term Contract Account Executives brought in during busier trading periods, from induction through to performance during their contract. Bringing a temporary hire up to standard quickly is a real part of this job, not an occasional inconvenience.

Day to Day

Team leadership and coaching

- Lead, coach and performance-manage a pod of Internal Account Executives, including day-to-day supervision and regular one-to-ones.

- Listen to calls regularly and coach individuals on sales conversation technique, not just call quality and tone.

- Set clear individual targets for each Account Executive, aligned to the pod's overall commercial plan.

- Identify underperformance early and act on it, through coaching first and formal performance management where coaching isn't enough.

- Recognise and share good practice within the pod, particularly around converting a service call into a sales outcome.

Managing Peak Fixed Term Contract hires

- Own direct line management of the Peak Fixed Term Contract Account Executives assigned to the pod during peak trading.

- Deliver a fast, structured induction so fixed-term hires reach a productive standard quickly.

- Set clear, achievable targets for fixed-term hires appropriate to a short contract, and monitor performance closely from week one.

- Manage the practical realities of a fixed-term workforce: contract dates, handover of accounts at the end of the contract, and a fair, consistent standard applied to permanent and fixed-term colleagues alike.

Sales and commercial performance

- Own pod-level performance against targets for retention, revenue, cross-sell and upsell.

- Monitor sales conversation activity and conversion rate for every Account Executive in the pod and address gaps directly.

- Maintain high conversion rates across inbound and outbound contact and drive consistent execution of the wider commercial strategy at pod level.

- Report pod performance and forecast accurately to the Internal Customer Retention & Growth Manager.

Customer experience and service standards

- Ensure the pod delivers a professional, responsive and consistent customer experience on every call.

- Act as the escalation point for customer issues the Account Executives cannot resolve themselves.

- Monitor customer satisfaction and complaint patterns within the pod and act on them.

CRM and operational discipline

- Ensure CRM records, pricing information and account documentation are accurate and current across the pod.

- Maintain disciplined pipeline management and enforce pricing governance within delegated authority.

- Support onboarding of new permanent Account Executives alongside fixed-term peak hires.

What will you bring?

- Experience in a customer-facing sales or account management role, with some experience supervising or informally leading others.

- Proven ability to achieve and exceed individual sales targets before stepping into leadership.

- Experience using CRM systems to manage pipeline and report performance.

- Confident coach, able to give direct feedback on a recorded or live call without damaging the individual's confidence.

- Commercially aware, understands what a good sales conversation sounds like and can teach it.

- Well organised, able to manage a live phone-based pod alongside coaching, reporting and admin.

- Calm under pressure, particularly at peak trading when the pod includes newly onboarded fixed-term hires.

- Clear communicator, comfortable holding individuals to account and escalating to the Internal Customer Retention & Growth Manager where needed.

- Leads from the front, willing to take a call or handle an escalation personally when the pod needs it.

- Fair and consistent, treats permanent and fixed-term colleagues to the same standard.

- Proactive about spotting a dip in performance before it becomes a pattern.

- Genuinely invested in developing people, not just hitting the pod's number.
