Summary
- 40 hours per week
- 5 days out of 7, including weekends on a rota basis
- Various shift patterns available:
- Monday to Friday: 6:30am – 3:00pm
- Monday to Thursday: 12:30pm – 9:00pm
- Friday: 11:00am – 7:30pm
- Weekend shifts: 9:30am – 6:00pm
- £14.61 per hour

Join Sodexo as a Second Chef in Tidworth and play a key role in delivering high-quality food and excellent service. Working alongside the Head Chef, you’ll help manage the day-to-day running of the kitchen, support and motivate the team, and ensure the highest standards of food hygiene and safety. When the Head Chef is away, you’ll step up to lead the team and keep kitchen operations running smoothly. What you'll do:
- Daily food preparation, cooking and service for mess meals, functions and catered events.
- Supervising kitchen staff, delegating preparation tasks and supporting team scheduling.
- Monitoring stock levels, conducting inventory checks, assisting with ordering and minimising food waste.
- Ensuring compliance with Food Safety, HACCP, COSHH and health and safety regulations across all kitchen areas.
- Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen, maintaining high food quality standards and leading the team in their absence.
What you bring:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery, or equivalent vocational experience.
- Level 2 or Level 3 Award in Food Safety in Catering.
- Proven experience as a Chef de Partie, Second Chef or Sous Chef in a commercial kitchen, catering or mess environment.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, allergen control, food safety and health and safety compliance, with the ability to lead and communicate effectively while working under pressure.
- Basic computer skills for stock control, ordering and recording hygiene checks.
