Essential requirements
As a Business Development Manager, you will focus on developing new business opportunities with both new and existing clients. Working closely with client account managers and technical colleagues, you will understand client requirements and shape solutions using JBA’s catastrophe models, flood hazard data and related services across the re/insurance, financial and property sectors. A key part of the role will be translating technical data and product information into clear, practical solutions for clients. You will lead or support client meetings, product demonstrations and proposals, respond to new business enquiries, and contribute to pricing, contract drafting and commercial negotiations. Training and support will be provided to build your JBA product, market and commercial knowledge. Essential attributes for the role: • Degree, ideally in a relevant scientific discipline. • Experience working with technical or complex data. • Some experience of working directly with clients, with good communication skills and the confidence to explain technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, and a strong desire to develop further in a client-facing role. • Ability to understand client requirements and shape appropriate data and service solutions. • Commercially minded, with an interest in identifying and developing new business opportunities. • Good numeracy, written communication and presentation skills. • Collaborative, organised and adaptable, with good attention to detail. • Comfortable contributing to proposals, pricing, licensing and contract drafting, with support available depending on experience. Desirable attributes for the role: • Experience working with catastrophe, natural peril, flood, climate, geospatial or GIS data. • Experience within insurance, reinsurance, financial services, property or risk management. • Experience developing new business opportunities with new or existing clients. • Experience contributing to commercial proposals and contract negotiations. • Knowledge of JBA's data, models or services would be advantageous but is not essential.
