Summary

Step into this Environmental Sustainability Advisor role and build something that matters in AgriTech.

UK farming is under pressure to cut emissions, use less water and prove it with data, and the businesses solving that problem sit right at the centre of AgriTech's growth. This role sits inside an established SME that's still expanding, working on sustainability programmes that actually change how food gets produced. It's a chance to do environmental work with a visible, measurable output rather than a policy document nobody reads.

Here's what you'll be doing:

Assess environmental impact across client operations and translate findings into practical, farm-ready recommendations

Track carbon, water and waste metrics, and build reporting that stands up to scrutiny from regulators and customers alike

Advise internal teams and external clients on sustainability standards relevant to agriculture and food supply chains

Support certification processes and audits, gathering evidence and closing gaps before they become problems

Keep pace with UK and EU environmental legislation and flag what it means for the business, in plain terms

Work alongside product and technical teams to help shape sustainability features into the company's AgriTech offering

Here are the skills you'll need:

A degree in environmental science, sustainability, agriculture or a related field

Solid grounding in carbon accounting or environmental impact assessment, ideally in an agricultural or food context

Comfortable with data. You'll be pulling numbers together and explaining what they actually mean

Clear written and verbal communication, since you'll be presenting to people who aren't environmental specialists

Project management instincts. Several strands on the go at once is normal here

Genuine interest in AgriTech and where farming is heading over the next decade

Key perks and benefits:

£35,000 to £51,000, depending on experience

Hybrid working, with time split between home and the Reading office

Private medical insurance and pension contribution

Bonus scheme on top of base salary

Annual leave allowance with flexible working built in

Why pursue a career in AgriTech?

AgriTech is one of the few sectors where environmental work isn't a side project, it's the whole point. Reading has become a genuine hub for this kind of business, with strong transport links and a growing cluster of agricultural technology firms nearby. Get in as an Environmental Sustainability Advisor now and you're building expertise that will only become more valuable as regulation tightens.

This Environmental Sustainability Advisor opportunity in Reading is brought to you by The Opportunity Hub UK.
