An independent special school near Fakenham in Norfolk is looking for an Art Teacher to lead Art and Design for its secondary-age students, through Luma Education Recruitment. Students have social, emotional and mental health needs, and many come to the school after time out of mainstream education. You'll teach small groups, where hands-on creative work is often what gets a student back into the habit of learning. Both full-time and part-time teachers are welcome to apply.
About the Setting
A small independent SEMH school for students aged roughly 11 to 16, part of a well-established Norfolk education group. Groups are small with support staff in every class, and staff build structure and routine around strong relationships with each student.
What You'll Be Doing
- Teaching Art and Design to small groups and one-to-one at KS3 and KS4
- Planning practical projects in drawing, painting, printmaking, collage and sculpture
- Breaking tasks into manageable steps for students who struggle with focus or confidence
- Guiding older students through GCSE Art or Entry Level art qualifications where suitable
- Working alongside teaching assistants, mentors and the pastoral team to plan for each student
- Recording progress and feeding back to the class team and leadership
About You
- Secondary Art and Design teaching experience
- Confidence working across a range of art media and techniques
- Experience adapting lessons for students with additional needs (SEN or SEMH experience is helpful but not essential)
- Available full-time or part-time during the school week
- QTS welcome but not essential - unqualified teachers and art instructors with relevant experience are encouraged to apply
You'll be calm, patient and enthusiastic about art, with the consistency that helps young people trust the adults around them.
