Home, a place where you belong

As a Community Housing Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting Housing Managers to deliver excellent housing management services across our communities. You'll provide a proactive, customer-focused service, helping customers sustain their tenancies, resolve issues early, and navigate housing-related processes.

What you’ll do

• Support customers to sustain their tenancies through regular contact, practical assistance, and signposting, while monitoring progress and escalating concerns to Housing Managers.

• Deliver neighbourhood and community management services by investigating low-level anti-social behaviour, maintaining records, providing advice, and monitoring cases for escalation.

• Manage voids and lettings administration, maintaining trackers and keeping systems up to date.

• Coordinate mutual exchanges, completing tenancy checks, supporting home visits, and liaising with customers, colleagues, and partners throughout the process.

• Support compliance and performance activities by arranging customer appointments, maintaining accurate records, and escalating safeguarding, vulnerability, and compliance concerns where needed.

Why join us

This is more than a job, it’s a place where you feel valued. You get great training, support from friendly colleagues and a chance to make a real difference every day. Be part of one of the UK’s Great Places to Work! We can’t offer a CoS for this role.

You have

• Experience working in housing management, customer services, community services, or a related environment.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate concerns.

• Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to service excellence.

• Knowledge of tenancy sustainment and safeguarding principles.

• Experience maintaining accurate records and updating case management systems

Stronger together

We do our best work when we’re ourselves. That’s why inclusion, wellbeing, and our diversity networks help make Home Group a great place to work!

The practical bits

• The position is primarily home and community based (two days per week), with regular attendance required at our office in Welwyn Garden City.

• This position will cover the following areas: High Wycombe, St. Albans, Watford and surrounding areas with travel across other patches across Hertfordshire and into west Essex as and when needed.

• We mainly work Monday to Friday and work occasional evenings to meet with customers. The great news is that you’ll be able to shape your own diary

• You need to be able to drive and have access to your own vehicle insured for business purposes (we pay for the mileage). Occasionally, you may be required to travel at short notice, so we're looking for someone who is flexible and willing to travel when needed.

• You’ll need a Standard DBS check done and we pay for that

What’s in it for you?

• 34 days leave (this includes bank holidays and a "me day"!), increasing to 39

• Health cash plan saving you (and your children) £1140+ each year covering dental, opticians, prescriptions and more

• 800+ discounts on shops, holidays, days out, tech and more

• Instant pay access with Stream

• Career path with development and excellent training package.
