Summary

Are you an experienced Information Governance leader looking for an opportunity to shape the governance framework of one of the largest digital transformation programmes in the NHS?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional candidate to join the Healthset Programme asInformation Governance Lead.

This is a strategic role at the heart of a major digital transformation programme, supporting the implementation of the Epic Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system across four NHS organisations. Working within a complex multi-organisational environment, you will play a key role in ensuring that information governance, data protection and information security principles are embedded throughout programme delivery.

As the Information Governance Lead, you will act as the programme's subject matter expert for Information Governance and Data Protection, working closely with Data Protection Officers (DPOs), senior leaders and programme teams to ensure compliance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and wider NHS Information Governance requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence the delivery of a transformational programme that will support safer, more efficient and more connected care for patients and staff across Dorset and Somerset.

Interview Date: To be confirmed

As the Information Governance Lead, you will provide expert leadership and advice on Information Governance, Data Protection and information risk management across the Healthset Programme. You will lead the development and implementation of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Data Sharing Agreements and other governance processes required to support the successful delivery of the Epic Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system.

Working closely with Data Protection Officers, programme teams and senior stakeholders, you will ensure compliance with data protection legislation, NHS standards and organisational policies, while identifying and mitigating information governance risks.

You will provide specialist advice on complex Information Governance matters, support programme decision-making and help establish consistent governance arrangements across participating organisations. The role will also contribute to the development of policies, guidance and best practice, promoting a strong culture of data protection, information governance and information security throughout the programme.

We are seeking a highly experienced Information Governance professional with excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills, capable of working effectively across organisational boundaries in a complex and evolving environment.

Healthset is a joint programme across four trusts in Dorset and Somerset to deliver a shared electronic health record (EHR) for acute, community and mental health services, working with our system provider, Epic. This once-in-a-generation programme will transform how information is recorded, shared and accessed, enabling colleagues to spend less time working around systems and more time caring.

Our teams deliver safe, compassionate care every day, but we still rely on multiple systems, separate records and paper processes. This can mean patients repeating their story and colleagues spending valuable time duplicating work or managing gaps in information. For our digital teams, this means managing multiple legacy systems and data sources to support users to deliver services.

Healthset is our shared response. By introducing one EHR across our organisations, we will support more joined‑up working, safer decision-making and better use of information, freeing up more time for care.

This ambitious programme will fundamentally change how health and care is delivered across Dorset and Somerset in a way that is clinically and financially sustainable. We will be guided by doing the right thing for our patients, carers, people and communities, while creating a working environment that better supports our colleagues.
