Summary

The Auto Electrician role at Robert Laws Auto Electricians LTD is an on-site position based in Bradford. Day-to-day responsibilities include diagnosing electrical faults, repairing and replacing wiring and electronic components, and installing electrical and electronic systems such as lighting, alarms, audio systems, and vehicle accessories. The role involves using diagnostic tools, reading wiring diagrams, performing safety checks, and documenting work performed in a clear and accurate manner. The Auto Electrician will interact with customers and colleagues to explain findings, provide estimates, and ensure vehicles are returned in safe and fully functional condition.

Essential requirements

Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, wiring, and electronic components, with the ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals. Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and testing instruments to identify and resolve electrical faults in a variety of vehicles. Experience in installing, repairing, and maintaining automotive electrical accessories and systems, such as lighting, alarms, audio units, and control modules. Attention to safety and detail, including adherence to relevant regulations, safe workshop practices, and thorough quality checks on completed work. Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and work collaboratively within a team. Prior experience as an auto electrician or in a similar automotive technical role; formal training or certification in auto electrical or automotive engineering is highly beneficial. Ability to work on-site in Bradford, manage time efficiently, and adapt to varying workloads and types of vehicles. A valid driver’s license and the right to work in the UK, along with a willingness to undertake further training and development.
