Summary

You will be supporting the daily operation of the nursery during the lunchtime period, which will include:

• Supervising children as they eat their dinner in the dining area and whilst playing and learning outside in the nursery garden.

• Serving food, promoting healthy eating habits and helping children with eating their dinner

• Maintaining a clean and hygienic lunchtime environment by helping to set up, clear, wash and tidy equipment, surfaces and utensils.

• Assisting with personal care routines, including toileting, changing nappies, dressing, handwashing and hygiene

• Encouraging the children’s independence, social and emotional development through positive interaction, play and role modelling

Essential requirements

You will need to enjoy working with young children and be able to communicate positively and effectively with them, be able to follow instructions, work in a team, be reliable and patient. You will need to have experience in looking after, working with or supporting the care of early years children. You will also need to complete a paediatric first aid qualification and Food Safety training within 3 months of starting the role.
