Summary

Clinical Exercise Specialist: Falls Prevention

London (with travel to community venues and occasional home working)

About Us

We’re Open Age, the charity empowering all older people in London to stay active, stay curious and stay connected.

We believe feeling supported as part of a community is the key to living well for longer – isolation can have a devastating impact on older people, affecting their mental and physical health. Right now, 60% of our members live alone.

But they are not alone.

Open Age is creating an inclusive community for everyone to take part in enjoyable activities – from art to foreign languages, yoga to walking football – whoever they are and however they choose.

No one else does what we do. For over 30 years, our unique ‘meet, move, learn’ formula has been supporting members to get out of their homes and into our community. Our goal is to empower all older Londoners to find their purpose and their people, helping them get more out of life at every age.

We are now looking for a Clinical Exercise Specialist: Falls Prevention to join us on a part-time, basis, working 21 hours per week, for a fixed term contract until March 2027, with the possibility of extension subject to funding.

The Benefits

- Salary of £28,000 per annum (pro rata)

- 25 days’ annual leave (pro rata) plus bank holidays

- An additional day off for your birthday

- Pension scheme with a 3% employer contribution

- Cycle to Work Scheme

- Employee Assistance Programme

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified exercise or sports science professional with postural stability expertise, or an interest in it, to join our dedicated charity.

The Role

As our Clinical Exercise Specialist: Falls Prevention, you will deliver and co-ordinate exercise classes that help older people in Brent reduce their risk of falls.

Delivering safe and effective classes, you'll assess participants' exercise capabilities and adapt sessions to meet their individual needs, helping them progress safely and confidently. You'll also encourage long-term participation in physical activity while ensuring everyone receives appropriate care and support.

Alongside working autonomously to deliver classes in Brent, you'll help co-ordinate our falls prevention programmes, working with community organisations and partners to raise awareness, increase participation and ensure activities run effectively.

Additionally, you will:

- Assess programme effectiveness

- Deliver health promotion talks and exercise demonstrations

- Manage participant bookings, enquiries and instructor cover

- Process invoices, produce marketing materials and support budget management

- Monitor activity data, gather feedback and prepare reports for funders
