Summary

Your new company

This leading national commercial law firm has an excellent reputation for its work across the public and private sectors, with particular strength in complex commercial and public law disputes.

Due to continued growth, the firm is looking to recruit an Associate or Senior Associate into its specialist Procurement Litigation team. The role is largely home working with occasional travel to hub offices depending on client and team requirements.

Your new role

You will join an established national team specialising in contentious procurement matters, acting for both claimants and defendants across the public and private sectors.

The team advises major corporates, central government, local authorities, NHS bodies and other organisations on procurement disputes and challenges, with work ranging from strategic advice on procurement risk through to complex High Court litigation.

Your work will include:

  • Contentious public procurement matters and procurement challenges
  • Advising on the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and Procurement Act 2023
  • High Court litigation
  • Procurement risk and dispute strategy
  • Injunctive relief
  • Public law and judicial review matters
  • Commercial contract disputes
  • Complex IT disputes
  • Corporate and shareholder disputes
  • Contentious IP and confidentiality matters
  • Professional negligence claims

As a more experienced member of the team, you will also have the opportunity to supervise junior lawyers, develop client relationships and contribute to business development.

What you'll need to succeed

You will ideally be a solicitor with circa 5-8 years' PQE and a background in procurement disputes, public law and/or commercial litigation.

Knowledge of public procurement law, including the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and Procurement Act 2023, would be particularly valuable.

You should also have:

  • Strong dispute resolution and litigation experience
  • Experience of public law and/or commercial litigation
  • Excellent drafting and legal analysis skills
  • The ability to manage complex matters and competing deadlines
  • Confidence working directly with clients
  • Experience supervising or supporting junior lawyers
  • Strong commercial awareness and a practical approach to disputes
  • An interest in business development and developing client relationships

What you'll get in return

This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist national team handling high-quality procurement litigation alongside broader commercial and public law disputes.

The position offers a particularly flexible working model, with no prescribed number of office days. You can expect to work largely from home, with occasional travel to Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds or other hub offices where required for client and team needs.

The wider benefits package includes:

  • Minimum 25 days' annual leave, with the option to purchase additional days
  • Discretionary bonus scheme
  • Generous pension
  • Private medical insurance
  • Private health assessments
  • Life assurance
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Strong learning, development and career progression opportunities
