Summary
We are currently recruiting for a Cook to join our newly refurbished, 48-bed nursing care home in Rickmansworth, MAPLE GROVE scheduled to open in March 2027.
Maple Grove will provide specialist, person-centred nursing care for up to 48 individuals, with dedicated accommodation for 20 female and 28 male residents. The service will support individuals with a diverse range of needs, including physical health conditions, mental health difficulties, neurological disorders such as dementia, Huntington's disease, Korsakoff's syndrome and Alzheimer's disease, as well as complex care needs and behaviours that challenge.
The home will also support individuals transitioning from community-based care into a nursing environment, alongside those stepping down from general or mental health hospitals. This includes individuals with forensic histories and those subject to Community Treatment Orders (CTOs), conditional discharges, or Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
The Cook is an important part of our team, providing nutritious hearty foods for our service users.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Nutrition is an important part of providing the perfect care to our service users, and the Cook does just this! You will have all dietary requirements/ cultural requirements, and a genuine interest in the wellbeing of our service users, to serve up meals following guidelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
MEAL PREPARATION
o Prepare nutritional meals (lunch and dinner), following dietary guidelines and residents preferences, and an agreed menu plan.
o Ensure meals are nutritious, balanced, and meet the dietary needs of residents, including those with specific health conditions or restrictions (e.g., diabetes, allergies).
o Utilise knowledge of HACCP and current food regulations
MENU PLANNING
o Assist in developing and planning seasonal menus that are appealing and varied
o Consider resident feedback and dietary requirements in menu design
o Work closely with nursing, care staff and residents to understand residents' dietary needs and preferences.
INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
o Management of food ordering and stock rotation
o Ensure all food items are fresh and properly labelled
CLEANING AND ORGANISATION
o Daily cleaning and maintenance of the kitchen and equipment
o Maintain inventory of kitchen equipment and utensils
KEY SKILLS
o Food hygiene level 2 certification
o Previous experience of food preparation in a commercial/ domestic/ hospital or care setting
o Warm, approachable personality to engage with service users and vulnerable adults with ease
o Confident managing kitchen alone including cleanliness
