Job Details

Role: English Teacher (Secondary) - Key Stage 3 & 4

Location: Okehampton, Devon

Start Date: Immediately after Half Term

Contract Type: Full-Time / Part-Time, Temporary / Permanent

Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging English Language and Literature lessons aligned with the National Curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4.

Foster a culture of critical analysis, creative writing, and a lifelong love of reading among the student body.

Assess, track, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to drive academic acceleration.

Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment with strong, effective behaviour management.

Prepare students thoroughly for their GCSE examinations to ensure they meet their academic goals.

Collaborate actively with the English department to enrich the curriculum and support school-wide literacy initiatives.

Qualifications

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.

Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (essential for an immediate start).

Demonstrable experience teaching English at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 levels.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage a classroom effectively.

Confirmed legal right to work in the UK.
