Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 3:30pm (3:15pm finish on Fridays)

Contract: Temp to perm

We are recruiting a qualified Special Needs Teacher with primary training for a small independent SEND school in Boston, Lincolnshire. The post focuses on maths: you will teach numeracy to a very small group of 14 to 16 year olds who have mild learning disabilities and are working at Key Stage 1. The young people are verbal, sociable and mostly settled. They are in school from 8:45am to 2:45pm, which leaves protected time each afternoon for planning. The role is temp to perm and can start immediately.

About the School

A very small specialist school for young people with learning disabilities, run as part of a group of SEND schools. Every class is supported by teaching assistants, and the headteacher is building a new teaching team and curriculum.

What You'll Be Doing

- Teaching daily numeracy lessons built on KS1 and KS2 objectives, made age-appropriate for Key Stage 4

- Using practical activities such as shopping, cooking, timetables and measuring to make maths meaningful

- Writing and reviewing targets linked to EHCP outcomes

- Sharing planning with the teacher who leads literacy and guiding classroom support staff

- Supporting pupils through changes in the day and helping them settle if they become unsettled

- Taking part in a weekly team meeting until 3:45pm

What You'll Need

- QTS or QTLS

- Primary teaching experience, ideally with a strength in maths or numeracy

- Experience of supporting pupils with learning disabilities or other SEN, or a strong interest in moving into SEND

- The ability to adapt lessons for learners working well below their age
