Summary
Could you be the person a young person trusts most at school?
We're looking for a warm, patient Support Assistant to join our secondary school in East Ham and work with a pupil with severe autism. Your role is simple but powerful: to help them feel safe, comfortable and cared for, so they can get the most out of their day.
- Helping with personal care (toileting, changing, hygiene and dressing) with dignity and respect
- Sticking to familiar routines and using visual supports to keep things calm and predictable
- Spotting when the pupil is uncomfortable or distressed, even without words
- Encouraging small steps towards independence
- Working alongside teachers, therapists and the pupil's family
Someone who is:
- Kind, calm and unflustered
- Reliable and consistent, because routine matters so much to our pupils
- Respectful, discreet and professional
- Physically able to help with moving and handling
- Experienced in school, SEN or care settings
