Summary

Role: Mainly day-to-day and short-term supply, with potential for longer-term opportunities

Pay: £90-£120 per day, depending on experience

Cover People are recruiting Sports Coaches to support schools across Rochdale, helping pupils get involved in physical activity, develop their sporting abilities and build confidence.

The majority of opportunities will be day-to-day and short-term cover, offering flexibility for candidates looking for school-based work without an immediate long-term commitment. Longer-term placements may also arise where schools need ongoing support.

You'll help schools provide engaging PE lessons and sporting activities, encouraging pupils to participate and develop new skills.

Depending on the booking, responsibilities may include:

Assisting with PE lessons and leading practical sports activities.

Coaching pupils in individual sports and team games.

Organising drills, warm-ups and structured activities.

Supporting pupils who need additional encouragement to participate.

Promoting teamwork, sportsmanship and positive behaviour.

Helping run lunchtime clubs and extracurricular sessions.

Developing pupils' coordination, fitness and confidence.

Adapting activities for different ages, abilities and experience levels.

Working alongside teachers and school staff.

Ensuring activities are carried out safely and inclusively.

We're looking for energetic, dependable candidates who enjoy working with children and young people and can bring enthusiasm to the school day.

Relevant experience may include:

Sports coaching or PE support

Football, rugby, cricket or basketball

Athletics, fitness or personal training

Sports Science or a related degree

Youth work or community sports programmes

A sports-related qualification or coaching badge would be beneficial, but practical coaching experience and the ability to manage groups effectively are also valued.

You should have good communication skills, a positive approach to behaviour management and the flexibility to adapt to different school environments.
