Clinical Care and Patient Management Deliver high-quality general medical services through face-to-face and telephone consultations, home visits and appropriate follow-up, including telephone triage and duty doctor work as required by the practice rota. Assess, investigate, diagnose and manage acute, chronic, complex and undifferentiated presentations, using sound clinical judgement and evidence-based guidance. Work in partnership with patients and carers to agree personalised care plans, support shared decision-making and provide appropriate counselling, prevention, health education and lifestyle advice. Provide effective management and review of long-term conditions, recognising when escalation, admission, discharge or referral to other services is appropriate. Prescribe safely and cost-effectively, following local and national guidance and the practice formulary; review and authorise repeat prescriptions and undertake appropriate medicines management. Complete referrals, results, clinical correspondence and other administrative tasks accurately and promptly; maintain clear, contemporaneous clinical records using appropriate coding. Work collaboratively with GPs, pharmacists, paramedics, nurses, healthcare assistants, administrative colleagues and external services to ensure coordinated, continuous care. Deputy Safeguarding Lead Support the practice Safeguarding Lead in promoting a robust safeguarding culture for children and adults at risk across the Mid Devon surgeries. Provide accessible clinical advice to colleagues on safeguarding concerns, recognition of risk, escalation pathways, documentation and appropriate referrals, within your competence and practice policy. Contribute to safeguarding meetings, multidisciplinary discussions, information sharing and liaison with relevant partner agencies, maintaining confidentiality and accurate records. Help review and embed safeguarding policies, learning, training and improvements arising from cases, audits or significant events; deputise for the Safeguarding Lead when agreed and appropriate. Abtrace Clinical Lead Implementation and Continued Roll-out Take clinical ownership of the ongoing implementation and roll-out of Abtrace across the practice, building on work already under way. Work with clinical, operational and administrative colleagues to integrate Abtrace into appropriate workflows and support proactive identification, review and follow-up of patients. Act as a point of contact for clinical questions, encourage adoption, support training and help colleagues use the system consistently and effectively. Review feedback and agreed measures of impact, identify opportunities to improve processes and support safe, appropriate use of patient information and clinical decision-support technology. Ensure that clinical decisions remain subject to professional judgement, established guidance, information governance and practice policies. GP Trainer and Clinical Educator Contribute actively to our established training environment by supporting medical students, Foundation Year 2 (F2) doctors and GP registrars. Provide appropriate supervision, teaching, case discussion, feedback and pastoral support, helping learners develop confidence, clinical reasoning and safe working practices. Work with educational and clinical supervisors and the wider team to provide meaningful learning opportunities, contribute to assessments and training documentation where authorised, and promote a positive learning culture. Undertake any formal trainer or supervisor duties only where the relevant approval, accreditation and arrangements are in place. Clinical Governance, Quality and Professional Standards Practise in accordance with GMC Good Medical Practice, the practice's contractual obligations, relevant clinical guidelines, safeguarding procedures and local policies. Participate in clinical meetings, audit, quality improvement, significant-event reviews and learning from incidents or near misses; help translate learning into safer care. Support the delivery of appropriate quality and service objectives, including QOF-related activity where agreed, and contribute ideas to improve patient experience and operational effectiveness. Maintain confidentiality, data protection, information security, accurate records and professional boundaries at all times. Uphold equality, diversity and inclusion; treat patients, carers and colleagues with dignity and respect. Take reasonable care of personal and workplace health and safety, identify and escalate risks, and follow infection prevention and other safety requirements. Maintain registration, professional indemnity, appraisal, revalidation, mandatory training and continuing professional development as required for the role. Manage workload effectively, communicate clearly, delegate safely and contribute positively to the wider team and practice development. This role works across the three Mid Devon sites, each rated Good by the CQC. We offer 15-minute appointments, a multidisciplinary approach and a welcoming culture with daily team contact and regular clinical discussion. We value collaboration, professional development and staff wellbeing. The post holder will undertake other reasonable duties consistent with the role of a Salaried GP. The balance of clinical sessions and additional leadership and educational responsibilities will be agreed with the practice.
