A growing construction business is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team in Milton Keynes. The role offers £40,000–£50,000 plus package and a profit-related bonus after one year of service. You will manage subcontract procurement, cost control and the commercial delivery of refurbishment, alteration and new-build projects.
Projects span education, healthcare, housing and commercial construction across the Midlands, South East and London, including Design & Build schemes, public-sector frameworks and complex refurbishments.
The position would suit a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor with construction experience who is ready to manage subcontract packages from enquiry and procurement through to orders, monthly valuations and final accounts.
The Role
Working closely with the commercial and operational teams, you will manage live projects from pre-construction through to final account. A key part of the role is preparing scopes, procuring trade packages, placing orders and assessing monthly valuations.
You will take ownership of subcontract packages of varying values, from smaller works such as a £10,000 decorating package through to larger trade packages. You will make sure each scope is clear, orders are accurate, costs are controlled and subcontractors deliver as agreed.

Manage subcontractors and subcontract packages from enquiry through to completion.
Build clear scopes of work and prepare subcontract enquiry documentation.
Procure packages, obtain quotations and complete detailed cost comparisons.
Negotiate terms, make recommendations and place subcontract orders.
Manage subcontractor performance, costs, variations and commercial issues throughout the project.
Assess and process monthly subcontractor valuations and payment applications.
Prepare project valuations, cost reports, forecasts and cash-flow information.
Maintain accurate spreadsheets for package tracking, valuations, variations and project cost control.
Measure works, prepare take-offs and review drawings and specifications.
Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.
Support final accounts and ensure commercial records are complete and up to date.
A relevant construction or quantity surveying qualification is desirable.
A full UK driving licence is required.
Salary and Benefits
£40,000–£50,000 salary plus package.
Profit-related bonus after one year of service.
Annual salary reviews and staff incentives.
Join an experienced commercial team of four.
A clear route for long-term career progression as the business grows.
Based in a modern shared office alongside other successful construction businesses within the group.
Modern offices with access to a gym downstairs.
A friendly, well-organised team with an enjoyable working environment and a good social side.
Varied refurbishment, alteration and new-build projects.
Responsibility for your own subcontract packages and commercial workload
