About the Role

We’re looking for a Cleaning Assistant to join our Estates team reporting to our Cleaning Supervisor. The Cleaning Operative is a key operational role within the Education Training Collective (Etc.), responsible for providing high-quality cleaning services across the college

As a Cleaning Assistant, you will:

• provide a range of general cleaning services to include offices/meeting rooms, toilets/showers, vacuuming/wet and dry mopping, dusting and other general cleaning duties.

· Ensure all chemical and cleaning solutions are used correctly.

· Working closely with their other colleagues, the postholder will ensure that all areas of the site are consistently clean, safe, hygienic, and welcoming — providing a supportive environment for learners, staff, and visitors.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking an ‘experienced’ Cleaning Assistant who is a reliable, organised, and proactive individual who can maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students and staff through the effective delivery of routine and non-routine cleaning duties. The post holder must be able to work independently, manage their time efficiently, and identify and report any repairs or maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel. They should be capable of responding calmly and appropriately to emergencies, including fire, flood, break-ins, accidents, or major damage, while adhering to established procedures. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential, as the role involves working closely with the Facilities and Premises team, responding positively to requests, and attending regular team meetings. The individual must demonstrate a strong commitment to health and safety, safeguarding, and the welfare of students and staff, including vulnerable adults, by recognising and reporting concerns in line with college policies. They should also support the Prevent Duty by remaining vigilant to signs of radicalisation or extremism, promoting British values, and maintaining a professional, responsible, and trustworthy approach at all times.
