Summary

Second Steps Day Nursery are looking for an enthusiastic part-time cleaner to maintain a clean, hygienic, and safe environment throughout the nursery, ensuring all areas are prepared for children, staff, and visitors. The role supports the smooth daily operation of the setting by upholding high standards of cleanliness and presentation.

Working: Monday – Friday either: 5:30am – 7:30am or 17:30pm – 19:30pm

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitise all nursery areas, including playrooms, bathrooms, staff areas and communal spaces.

• To follow a daily / weekly cleaning schedule as directed by the nursery manager.

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wipe down surfaces as required.

• Empty bins and dispose of waste appropriately.

• Replenish cleaning supplies and notify the manager when stock is low.

• Ensure all cleaning equipment is used safely and stored correctly.

• Follow nursery hygiene procedures and adhere to health and safety guidelines.

• Report any maintenance issues or hazards to the Nursery Manager.

• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Requirements

• Previous cleaning experience is desirable.

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

• Good attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.

• Reliability and punctuality.

• Willingness to follow all safeguarding, health and safety, and infection control procedures.
