Summary

Switch Mentoring is looking for warm, dependable people to mentor young people aged 8–18. We work across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, B&NES and North Somerset, and for these posts we're looking for mentors able to work in the South Gloucestershire and B&NES areas. Whether your background is in sport, the arts, music, the outdoors, youth work or something else entirely, what matters most is a real interest in young people.

Schools refer young people to us for one-to-one mentoring, and sometimes for work in pairs or small groups. Many have SEND, are neurodivergent, or have social, emotional and mental health needs, and some aren't currently attending school. Sessions happen in school and off site at sports, outdoor and cultural venues. Your job is to be a consistent, safe and positive adult in their week.

Posts: 1 full-time post (30 hours a week) and 1 part-time post (18 hours a week), permanent, term time only.

Base: our office is in Staple Hill; you'll work in schools and venues across South Gloucestershire and B&NES.

Pay: £14.00–£15.00 an hour. Full-time £18,360–£19,670 a year; part-time £11,010–£11,800 a year, both including holiday pay.

Benefits: workplace pension, 50p a mile mileage, extra cost of business car insurance covered, branded workwear, full training and supervision.

Holiday work: optional, and we'll help you develop your own holiday activity ideas.

HOW TO APPLY: We recruit safely and shortlist from our application form only, not CVs. Download the job pack and application form from https://switchmentoring.com/youth-mentor/ and email your completed form to admin@switchrugby.com by 11.59pm on Sunday 1 November 2026. Interviews will be on 9 and 10 November. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check with barred list check.
