Summary

We are advertising for two self-employed dog groomers in Leeds. Please note that you would be paid by customers through the app and WoofWalk takes a commission, so there is no wage, and this is a completely different role from the dog walker we also recruit.

WoofWalk is a UK booking app for dog owners rather than an employer. Grooming is a live service in the app: owners pick a groomer, book a slot and pay online, then your share is paid out to your bank. No bookings or income are guaranteed, and you set your own hours.

It suits someone with proper grooming experience. You could work from a salon at home in Headingley or Chapel Allerton, from a van that covers Roundhay and Adel, or by visiting owners at home. You set a price for each dog size.

Because the app does not filter by area, you may get a request from Pudsey or Otley that is further than you want to drive. Check the address and decline politely. You can turn down a groom that does not suit you, such as a badly matted coat, and must tell the owner before you begin if you find a health problem. Travelling groomers get a day-route planner, a mileage log at HMRC rates and a spreadsheet export for the tax return.

It costs nothing to join. You pay no commission for 14 days, then 10% of each booking, falling to 5% for life after 20 bookings in a single month. Home groomers should ask Leeds City Council about planning and business rates. Your own tax, National Insurance and insurance. Over 18. Apply on Find a Job with your set-up and the areas you cover, and we will send the set-up guide.
