Personal Assistant Required

Location: Aberystwyth

About Me

I am nearly 16 and would like support from a Personal Assistant to access my community, enjoy social activities and develop practical life skills. I enjoy shopping, visiting cafés, walking in the woods and possibly taking trips to the beach.

Support I Need

• Support to take part in community activities that I may enjoy and to socialise.

• Encouragement to learn life skills and become more independent.

• Calm reassurance when dogs are nearby. I am very nervous around dogs and may need appropriate, agreed physical reassurance to feel safe.

• Awareness of epilepsy and completion of any required training so that you can support me safely.

Aim of the Role

I would like to go out independently with my Personal Assistant, while still being supported by a responsible adult. This will help me build confidence and independence away from my family. The role will also provide some respite for my family, including from the demands of supporting my brother.

Essential requirements

Person Specification • Kind, patient, reliable, and respectful. • Friendly and able to provide calm companionship. • Able to follow the family’s guidance and agreed routines. • Comfortable supporting someone outside the home • Experience in a caring or support role would be helpful, but the Epilepsy knowledge is essential.
