Summary

Immigration Administrator – Job Advert

The Opportunity

Are you looking to build your career in HR and develop specialist knowledge in UK immigration? Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, learning, working with detail and helping people navigate complex processes?

We have an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic Global Mobility team, with a primary focus on supporting the University’s UK immigration and sponsorship activities.

This is a varied and busy role, offering an excellent opportunity for someone who is curious, proactive and keen to develop specialist knowledge in UK immigration, HR operations and compliance. You do not need prior experience of immigration, we are looking for someone with the ability and enthusiasm to learn, develop specialist knowledge and make a positive contribution to a busy and supportive team. You will work alongside experienced colleagues who will support you to build your knowledge and confidence, while giving you the opportunity to take ownership of your work and develop your professional skills.

A key part of the role will be supporting the day-to-day delivery of the University’s UK inbound immigration service. This will include supporting employees and managers with immigration-related queries, assisting with sponsorship processes and maintaining accurate records and documentation. You will also help the team ensure that our processes remain compliant with UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requirements and University policies.

Alongside your immigration responsibilities, you will gain exposure to wider Global Mobility activity, supporting colleagues who work internationally and contributing to a range of international compliance and mobility matters such as payroll. This provides an excellent opportunity to broaden your experience and develop an understanding of the wider challenges associated with international working.

The role involves managing a significant and varied workload, working to deadlines and dealing with detailed and complex information. You will need to be fastidious, organised, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy. You will also need to be comfortable asking questions, learning from others and developing your knowledge as you gain experience.

In return, you will gain valuable experience in a specialist area of HR, develop knowledge of UK immigration and compliance, and have the opportunity to contribute to a service that supports the University’s international workforce and wider global ambitions.

What will help you succeed in this role

This role is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career who wants to develop specialist knowledge of UK immigration and Global Mobility.

You do not need to have worked in immigration before. We can teach you the technical knowledge and processes; we are looking for someone who has the curiosity, organisation, attention to detail and commitment to learn.

UK immigration is a detailed and continually evolving area, so you will need to enjoy learning new information, researching questions and applying guidance carefully. You will be supported as you develop your knowledge, but we will also expect you to take ownership of your learning and progressively build your confidence and independence.

You will need to be comfortable working at pace, staying organised and maintaining accuracy when there is a lot to do.

Your experience does not need to come from a traditional employment setting. We welcome applications from all candidates including graduates and those at the early stages of their careers who can demonstrate these skills through their studies, part-time work, volunteering, placements, internships or other experiences.
