Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Advanced Practitioner to join the Department of Nursing as a Senior Lecturer.

The postholder will contribute to the delivery, development and ongoing enhancement of education across Advanced Practice, non-medical prescribing and relevant continuing professional development (CPD) modules. You will teach and support postgraduate learners from a range of professional and clinical backgrounds, helping them to develop the knowledge, skills and professional capabilities required for advanced and extended roles, including prescribing.

The role offers an opportunity to work collaboratively with academic colleagues, healthcare organisations, Advanced Practice leads and clinical teams to support high-quality education and workforce development across Advanced Practice and prescribing.

The role will include teaching and assessment across areas such as advanced clinical assessment, clinical reasoning, decision-making, prescribing, leadership and professional practice, alongside contribution to relevant CPD provision. You will also support curriculum development, quality assurance and programme enhancement in response to professional standards, workforce priorities and developments across Advanced Practice and prescribing.

You will work closely with academic colleagues, healthcare organisations, Advanced Practice leads, clinical teams and other stakeholders to support high-quality education and workforce development.

The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery, development and enhancement of postgraduate Advanced Practice and non-medical prescribing education, supporting learners to develop advanced clinical reasoning, decision-making, leadership and prescribing capability.

Applicants should hold current professional registration with the NMC, HCPC or GPhC, an MSc in Advanced Practice/Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent, and an appropriate independent/supplementary prescribing qualification with current prescribing annotation. You will also have substantial recent experience of working at advanced practice level, including autonomous clinical decision-making and prescribing.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can bring substantial current or recent Advanced Practice and prescribing experience into the academic environment and who can contribute flexibly across Advanced Practice, non-medical prescribing and related CPD provision.
