Summary

Your new company

A growing SME is seeking a commercially minded Financial Controller to take ownership of the finance function and support the leadership team with strategic decision-making. This is a broad, hands-on role that will oversee all aspects of finance, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting and meaningful business insight to support continued growth.

Your new role

Prepare monthly management accounts and board reporting packs.

Own budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management processes.

Oversee purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll and credit control functions.

Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations and financial records.

Deliver meaningful financial analysis and KPI reporting to drive business performance.

Manage year-end accounts preparation and act as the key contact for external accountants and auditors.

Ensure compliance with VAT, PAYE, corporation tax and statutory reporting requirements.

Monitor working capital, profitability and cash generation across the business.

Develop and improve financial controls, processes and reporting systems.

Support commercial decision-making through business partnering with operational stakeholders.

Lead, mentor and develop members of the finance team.

Assist with strategic projects, growth initiatives, acquisitions and system improvements as required.

What you'll need to succeed

ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or qualified by experience with significant relevant experience).

Previous experience in manufacturing is beneficial.

Strong management accounting, financial reporting and cash flow management skills.

Ability to operate strategically whilst remaining hands-on in day-to-day financial activities.

Experience managing and developing finance staff.

Strong Excel and financial systems' knowledge.

Commercial mindset with the ability to influence non-financial stakeholders.

Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
