Introduction to YSJ university

Situated in the heart of the historic city of York, and with our London Campus, York St John University has a long and proud tradition as a distinguished higher education provider.

Our success is founded on the quality of our teaching and research, our strong external partnerships and our ambition to create opportunities that deliver meaningful economic and social impact.

London

Located across three floors in East London Docks, the campus is perfectly situated for access to the area’s rich and diverse amenities and part of a vibrant, co-inhabited educational environment.

The Team

Based at our London Campus, you will work within a collaborative structure alongside Employability and Employer Engagement colleagues and in close partnership with the University’s Executive Education and Knowledge Exchange team in York.

Together, the teams are developing an ambitious, coordinated Executive Education offer which builds on existing provision in York while extending our reach with employers, professional bodies and external partners through the London Campus.

The Role

We are looking for an ambitious and commercially focused Executive Education and Business Development Manager to lead the development and growth of Executive Education, professional development and employer engagement opportunities at our London Campus.

You will identify and secure new business opportunities, build strategic employer and client relationships, and develop a strong pipeline of commercially viable Executive Education activity. Working with academic and professional services colleagues, you will turn employer and market needs into compelling programmes, proposals and partnerships.

You will use market intelligence and commercial insight to identify emerging opportunities, lead multiple Executive Education projects and contribute to longer-term business planning and growth. A key part of the role will be working closely with colleagues in York to create a joined-up University offer and maximise opportunities across our wider Knowledge Exchange activity.

Required Skills and Experience

You will bring demonstrable experience of business development, employer engagement, account management or income-generating activity, alongside experience of developing projects, partnerships or business opportunities from initial concept through to delivery.

You will be commercially aware and confident building relationships with external clients and influencing senior stakeholders. Strong analytical, communication and project leadership skills will be essential, together with the ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and turn complex customer or market needs into practical, innovative solutions.
