Summary
The Aylsham Medical Day Unit is a nurse-led day unit providing planned care for patients referred from all specialties across the Acute Trust. Established in 2018, our service treated more than 11,000 patients last year alone. Our patients are at the heart of everything we do. We aim to support patients living with chronic or acute conditions to remain in their own homes, avoid unnecessary hospital admissions and facilitate early discharge from inpatient care.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and compassionate Band 2 Ward Clerk/Receptionist to join our friendly team and provide a high-quality reception and administrative support service within the unit. As the first point of contact for our patients, relatives and visitors, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming and positive experience. You will need to be approachable, professional and able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including patients, relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team. We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable and approachable, with good communication and interpersonal skills. You should be comfortable working in a busy patient-facing environment, able to prioritise your workload and have a commitment to providing an excellent standard of service.
The unit operates 7am until 19:30, 7 days a week.
Main duties
The role will include:
• Manning the front reception desk and welcoming patients, relatives and visitors to the unit.
• Greeting patients attending the service in a friendly, professional and compassionate manner.
• Responding to enquiries and providing appropriate information or directing queries to the relevant member of staff.
• Accurately recording patient attendance and maintaining information on Trust systems.
• Providing administrative and clerical support to the clinical team.
• Communicating effectively with patients, relatives and colleagues.
• Maintaining confidentiality and ensuring information is handled appropriately.
• Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to support the smooth running of the unit.
• Contributing to a high-quality patient experience and delivering our service in line with the Trust’s PRIDE values.
