Summary
Apprentice Maintenance Assistant | Earn while you learn
Ready to start your career in maintenance? You’ll join our Facilities team and help keep our hotel, spa and grounds looking great and working as they should. No two days will be exactly the same.
Who we are looking for:
You don’t need to know everything already; we’ll help you learn. We’re looking for someone who is organised, focused, keen to get stuck in and proud of doing a job well. Because you’ll be working around hotel guests, you’ll also need to be friendly, considerate and aware of busy periods. This is a full-time, permanent role working five days out of seven. You’ll need some flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays when required.
Day to Day:
You’ll usually start with a team briefing, where you’ll receive your job sheets and find out which tasks need to be completed first. From there, you’ll support the Maintenance Manager with jobs around the property, focusing on fixing issues before they affect our guests’ experience. You’ll also respond to urgent requests from guests and team members, solve problems promptly and provide warm, friendly hospitality to everyone you meet along the way.
You’ll get involved in:
Helping the Head of Facilities keep the hotel, spa and grounds looking their best and maintained to a high standard
Working on planned maintenance and improvement projects, keeping to agreed timescales and budgets
Responding to maintenance requests from different hotel teams, tackling the most urgent jobs first and completing work safely, quickly and cost-effectively
Checking that spare parts and materials are stocked, looked after and used responsibly
Taking part in maintenance training covering safety, security, team procedures and great service
Supporting the Maintenance Manager with health and safety in the department and helping other teams when needed
Representing the hotel professionally through your appearance, attitude and the way you work with guests and colleagues
Following company policies and procedures and communicating clearly with Heads of Department
Your Training:
Over your first two years, we’ll support you to complete a Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative qualification. You will learn practical skills including basic plumbing, decorating, simple electrical tasks and fixing breakdowns. Your learning will combine face-to-face support and online visits through a structured programme tailored to you.
