Summary

Band 7 Practitioner Psychologist /CBT Therapist in Pain Management

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Enfield Pain Service (EPS) which serves patients who have a long-term pain condition e.g. chronic lower back pain, chronic widespread pain, fibromyalgia. The focus of the Enfield Pain Service is to help patients understand their pain condition, as well as supporting them to develop a range of skills and strategies to manage their pain effectively long-term and improve quality of life . You'll be joining a supportive multidisciplinary team  comprising of medical, physiotherapy and psychology professionals - with the post holder being supervised by a Band 8a psychologist.

A background and interest in working in a physical health setting with long-term health conditions is an advantage, however the post-holder will also receive training and on-going support within the service. The daily duties will involve supporting the MDT in terms of psychological assessment and delivering 1:1 and group interventions based on CBT, ACT and CFT approaches, along with contributing to service evaluation/improvement projects, supervising an assistant psychologist and liaising with other relevant services e.g. Talking Therapies, MSK services.

Working in Pain can be incredibly rewarding and the post-holder will likely be able to develop their psychological skills and expertise that can be generalisable to lots of other types of physical health conditions.

• Provide specialist psychological assessment

• Provide specialist 1:1 psychological interventions based on cognitive-behavioural therapy, acceptance & commitment therapy and/or compassion focused therapy.

• Co-facilitate group pain management programmes (PMP’s) and contribute to the development of PMP’s

• Contribute to the collection and analysis of outcome data of both individual and group interventions

• Offer advice and consultation on patients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and within the overall framework of the services’ policies and procedures

• Utilise research skills for audit and research purposes as required.

• The successful candidate is required to be able demonstrate the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification.

North Mid is part of North Central London integrated care system – consisting of the NHS and Local authority organisations in Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey. As with other ICS’s, we are working increasingly closely with partners and indeed many of our financial and performance objectives are measured at this system level. Whilst all organisations remain as standalone, statutory bodies we have an ICS infrastructure for making shared decisions and agreeing shared approaches.

We are proud of our staff and want to ensure their training allows them to provide excellent clinical care. We are also a training unit for medical students from UCL and St George’s University Grenada, and for nursing and midwifery students from Middlesex and City Universities.
