Summary
We're recruiting on behalf of our client for a reliable and safety-conscious
Yard Operative / FLT Driver
to join their team in Cardiff.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic, good attention to detail, and experience in yard operations, stock control, and forklift truck operation.

Hours: 2:00am-10:00am

Key responsibilities
Safety and compliance
- Put safety first in all tasks and follow site safety rules and procedures at all times.
- Load and unload vehicles safely in line with operational procedures.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and yard cleanliness.
FLT operations
- Complete both paper and electronic forklift truck pre-use checks before operating the vehicle.
- Accurately record FLT hours and odometer readings during every inspection.
Stillage and stock management
- Ensure all stillages are secured with cable ties at all four corners.
- Maintain effective control of pallet stock.
- Sort and consolidate consignments accurately.
Yard operations
- Pick duct materials independently unless assistance is required for safety or operational reasons.
- Manage duct deliveries efficiently and accurately.
- Conduct and document a daily yard walk.
- Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed and submitted to the Manager or Supervisor for sign-off.
Communication and teamwork
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and management.
- Take initiative, demonstrate accountability, and manage tasks proactively.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude throughout the shift.
What we're looking for
- A reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious individual.
- Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, or logistics environment.
- Valid FLT certification and practical forklift experience.
- Strong attention to detail when completing checks and paperwork.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive approach to housekeeping, stock control, and safety procedures.
- Availability to work Monday to Friday, 2:00am-10:00am.
