Summary

Are you passionate about patient safety, quality improvement and supporting high-quality healthcare services within Women's and Children's Services?

An opportunity has arisen for a proactive and organised Governance Coordinator to join the Gynaecology and Paediatric  Governance Team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Based primarily at Watford General Hospital, with some cross-site working, this role is ideal for an experienced governance, quality, risk or administrative professional looking to develop their career within a supportive and forward-thinking team.

Working closely with the Governance Manager, Deputy Head of Governance, and clinical leads across Gynaecology services, you will play a key role in coordinating governance systems and processes within the speciality.

You will support patient safety, risk management, complaints, incidents, clinical audit, GIRFT and regulatory compliance activities, ensuring governance processes are effective, well organised and deliver meaningful assurance, learning and service improvement.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact on patient care by helping Gynaecology services learn from incidents, complaints, audits, patient feedback and risk activity, whilst supporting a culture of openness, continuous improvement and excellence.

You will provide specialist operational support across governance functions, ensuring effective governance arrangements are embedded throughout Gynaecology and Paediatric services.

The post holder will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to strengthen governance arrangements, promote learning, and support the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality care for women accessing Gynaecology and Paediatric services across the Trust.

Your responsibilities will include:

Coordinating governance systems, databases, trackers and records.

Supporting patient safety incident management, including investigations, action plans and implementation of learning.

Maintaining risk registers and supporting risk management processes.

Supporting the management of complaints, claims and concerns, ensuring actions and learning are tracked.

Coordinating clinical audits, accreditation and effectiveness programmes, monitoring recommendations and improvements.

Producing governance reports, dashboards and assurance information for meetings and committees.

Supporting compliance with CQC standards, quality frameworks, patient safety alerts and Trust governance requirements.

Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and drive continuous quality improvement.

Supporting the review of policies, guidelines and standard operating procedures.

Monitoring action plans arising from incidents, complaints, audits, external reviews and accreditation visits.
