Summary
Job summaryAs part of the student services team, you will have a crucial role in ensuring that all learners at BCT have a fully supported and positive experience throughout their time with us. The role of student services curriculum support tutor is varied and supported by the whole student services team. Members of the team need to be organised, methodical, punctual and passionate about helping learners develop their vocational and life skills.Essential qualificationsMaths and English GCSE Grade 4/C or equivalent (Level 2)Degree/relevant qualification in the subject area (Music Production and/or Performance)Experience in education/welfareEssential skills
Willingness to participate in further training and development opportunitiesSignificant organisational and administrative skills, supported by a proficiency with ICTExcellent verbal and written skills, including telephone manners, diplomacy and confidentialityExcellent interpersonal skills and solution focused approach to professional relationshipsAbility to work in a demanding environment, meeting deadlines by prioritising/delegatingStrong listening skills and the ability to deal with sensitive situations with integrityAbility to work as part of a team and demonstrate initiativeFlexible, motivated and committed to high standard of workingGood attendance and punctualityResilient, determined to achieve goals and committed to the ethos of BCTGeneral Student Services responsibilitiesResponding effectively to incoming enquiries via telephone and email (parents, carers, local authorities, students etc.)Student welfare and Information advice and guidance as requiredWorking within the student services hub as per timetablePastoral supportAssisting with invigilation duties during exams periodsSupport Student Services Manager with student induction packs, medical forms and updating Arbor appropriately for the new academic yearSupport Student Services Manager to provide student and parent/carer updatesManaging Breakfast club on allocated daysSupport with college-wide events such as National Careers Week, Mental Health Week and End of Year ShowcasesAd Hoc Admin as required.Job Specific ResponsibilitiesAttendance phone calls and emails for your cohort every morning and afternoonTracking of engagement with student services/issue /outcomeTracking of attendance and disciplinary to support learners in overcoming their barriers to learningAttendance once a month at curriculum team meetingsCover vocational sessions within area of specialism.
