Help people experiencing homelessness build more stable and independence futures
YMCA Leicestershire believes everyone has strengths, talents and the potential to thrive.
We are looking for warm, experienced and resilient Project Support Workers to join The Y Advice & Support Centre. You will welcome people experiencing homelessness and provide practical advice, person-centred support, helping them understand their options, access accommodation and specialist services, and make informed choices.
Working in a busy multi-agency hub, you will focus on “what’s strong”, rather than “what’s wrong”.
The role:
Welcome visitors and help maintain a safe, calm and inclusive hub.
Identify needs and provide advice, guidance and signposting.
Support access to housing, emergency accommodation and welfare benefits.
Help with online applications and advocate for individuals when appropriate.
Connect people with health, mental health, substance use and outreach services.
Work with local authorities, health providers and voluntary-sectors partners.
Respond calmly to challenging situations while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
Keep accurate, confidential records and contribute to service monitoring.
What we offer:
A supportive, values-led culture; regular supervision and professional development
6.6 week’s annual leave, including bank holidays (pro-rata), Birthday leave, service leave (pro-rata), company sick pay, pension and health cash plan, free on-site gym, menopause welfare leave, complimentary Y Theatre tickets and Blue Light card eligibility.
Appointment is subject to proof of eligibility to work in the UK, two satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check.
