Apprentice Accountant

Leeds Bradford Airport is one of the UK’s fastest-growing regional airports, and we’re committed to employing ambitious, high-quality people who want to build a rewarding career with us. As an Apprentice Accountant, you’ll join our Finance team in a varied role that gives you valuable hands-on experience across the Finance function, while we support you in pursuing your ACCA or CIMA qualification through a Level 7 apprenticeship. You’ll have the opportunity to learn, develop and grow your career while living our values to Be the Best, Work as One Team and Do the Right Thing.

What Your Day-to-Day Will Feel Like

You’ll support the Finance team with the delivery of month-end close, management accounts, budgets and forecasts. Your responsibilities will include preparing and posting journals, prepayments and accruals, reconciling key balance sheet accounts, supporting cost centre reporting and ensuring financial information is accurate and complete. As you develop in the role, you’ll gradually take ownership of your own cost centres and a broader range of accounting activities.

You’ll also take ownership of regular financial reporting, producing daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports and responding to ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests from Finance colleagues and wider business stakeholders. You’ll work closely with the Commercial and Management Accountants to prepare and analyse financial information, supporting the wider Finance team with accurate and timely reporting.

Alongside the month-end and reporting cycle, you’ll support the annual budgeting and forecasting processes and the year-end audit. You’ll prepare audit schedules, provide supporting information and respond to audit queries, while ensuring that internal controls, accounting policies and financial procedures are followed across your areas of responsibility.

What’s in it for You

· Professional Qualification: Full support to work towards your ACCA or CIMA qualification through a Level 7 apprenticeship.

· Career Progression: Ability to develop within the Finance function, with the opportunity to progress towards a Management Accountant role as your experience and qualification progress.

· Hands-on Experience: Gain broad experience across management accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, commercial finance and statutory reporting.

· Development: Build your technical accounting knowledge and professional skills while working alongside experienced Finance colleagues.

· Growing Organisation: Join one of the UK’s fastest-growing regional airports and develop your career as the airport continues to grow.

What We are looking for

· Accounting/Finance degree or AAT qualified preferred, with an interest in completing ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification.

· Willingness to learn month-end processes and accounting principles.

· Some experience in a finance or accounts role is desirable.

· Good attention to detail and a positive, proactive attitude.

· Basic Excel skills and a willingness to develop technical capability.
