Summary
Job Overview
-Support the existing Minor Works/carpentry team in the execution of joinery works
Main Duties
-· Execution of response, repairs and maintenance, and new works. To include glazing, repairs to doors and
windows.
· Erection of timber frames and stud partitions, both timber and metal, inclusive of ceilings.
· Evaluating drawings and carrying out detailed measuring, producing a material schedule for the job in hand.
· Lay floor coverings e.g. vinyl in facilities if necessary
· Repair damaged components i.e. on doors and windows and carry out general housing maintenance
· Ensure that all works/projects under your responsibility are carried out in accordance with Mitie and MOD
Processes.
· Produce a quality end product first time with no re-work required.
· Ensure materials for works are fully checked for suitability and are correctly booked in and out of stores
(reporting any defects or damage).
· Operate industrial joinery machinery within the workshop, following training by the Joinery/Minor Works
Chargehand
· Ensure that labour records are completed accurately (correct job Nr's are entered), all overtime is sanctioned
and submitted on the day required.
What we are looking for
-Essential
• Educated to GCSE or equivalent.
• Working towards passing CITB or IOSH H & S test.
• To have attained, or be working towards an approved apprenticeship (or NVQ 2) in a carpentry/ wood working
discipline
• To have attained, or be working towards a Fire Door Installation Certification/Qualification
• Experience of general carpentry works, and construction industry.
• Full driving license.
• Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
• Enthusiastic and flexible approach.
• Self motivated team member with ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Desirable
· Min 3 years experience
· Able to use Woodworking Machinery
· Previous experience in the Falkland Islands or working abroad.
