Summary

A Vacancy at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust.

We are seeking to appoint a forward-thinking, dedicated and motivated Senior Clinical fellow (Post CCT) in the Department of Renal Medicine at St Helier Hospital for a period of 12 months initially and extendable subject to satisfactory feedback and progression to support the candidate’s additional experience requirements.

This post would suit a candidate who is looking to conduct supervised Peritoneal Dialysis [PD] clinical training (plus physician led PD catheter insertion) and gain additional experience in other aspects clinical Renal Medicine.

This job is particularly suited for those who have completed specialist training (with a national training number) and are due to obtain CCT in Renal medicine by the job joining date). This post also has an added benefit in offering valuable clinical experience during the tenure of the candidate exposing to a busy tertiary nephrology centre with high volume of patients afflicted with various types of kidney diseases. 

You will be expected to perform clinical duties and carry out responsibilities expected of ST4+ level doctors and will work as one of a team of 9 registrars. As the post holder, you will be expected to provide ST4+ on-call cover for the Renal Service in a 1 in 9 rota. Those suitable candidates with CCT in Renal Medicine will be allowed to develop their other subspecialty interest in Renal Medicine during this tenure in addition to PD. Adequate clinical management skills, other research opportunities are also available to nurture individual clinical research fellow career aspirations. The unit supports the clinical research fellows in submitting abstracts to international and national conferences and has a very consistent and good track record. The post holder can get trained in clinical research methodology, laboratory techniques, basic and translational research methodology with support from wide consultant expertise group

We operate two busy general hospitals, Epsom Hospital and St Helier Hospital, and run services from other locations, including Sutton Hospital.

St Helier Hospital is home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children, while Epsom Hospital is home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC). Both Epsom and St Helier hospitals have Accident and Emergency departments (A&E) and Maternity services (Obstetrics).

Surrey Downs Health and Care brings together our staff, CSH and the GP groups in Surrey Downs, and Surrey County Council in a partnership to improve care for local people. Also health and care teams from organisations (the London Borough of Sutton, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, Sutton GP services, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and South West London & St George’s Mental Health Trust) across Sutton that provide care to Sutton’s older population are coming together to work as one team.
