An opportunity has arisen for a Head of Finance to join the South Finance team leading our financial reporting and analysis team.

The Finance team oversee the financial performance of the systems, ICBs and Trusts within the South East Region system, providing the necessary advice, guidance, support and challenge as appropriate. In our work accurate financial reporting and insightful analysis of financial data are vital to identify trends and support timely interventions.

Leading a small team, the Head of Financial Reporting will be responsible for the reporting of financial information in region and ensuring that regional and national reporting timetables are met and developing best practice in reporting.

You will be a CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant (or equivalent) with full up to date membership and be able to demonstrate your experience in financial reporting in a complex organisation.

·      Take the lead responsibility for the timely and accurate reporting of financial information within the South East region ensuring that the financial reporting and analysis team develop and implement best practice in financial reporting.  

·      Develop financial reporting in the South East region to enable understanding of trends in financial performance and triangulating financial positions with other sources of assurance.  

·      Provide advice and prepare strategic reports and briefings for directors and stakeholders as required including in depth analysis, interpretation and production of complex and multiple reports including financial returns.

·      Be the subject matter expert in relation to national changes in reporting and analysis and responsible for disseminating best practice across the South East region.

In March 2025,the Government announcedthat NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care will increasingly merge functions, ultimately leading to NHS England being fully integrated into the department.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in our offices.
